From Far Away is a Viz Graphic Novel by Kyoko Hikawa. The story falls around Noriko, a normal girl who is walking home with her friends. In front of her, she sees a ball passing her and wants to retrieve it and bring it back to whoever had it. The ball hits a paper bag, and suddenly, the bag explodes in her face. Noriko gets plundged into a strange new world after the explosion. This new world is full of dangerous monsters, and since she's just a regular girl, she has no way of defending herself.
Thankfully, Izark finds her and helps her escape the forest she was unexpectedly transported to. This dark long haired swordsman slashes through the forest, slaying all kinds of vile creatures, and puts her out of a terrifing ordeal.
All around this time, you are told of a phophesy about the "Awakening" and that the Awakening has finally came into this world. This sends greedy men scurrying around to try and find the Awakening so that they can become "masters of the world". Everyone's eyes are on Noriko. She is the Awakening they have waited for.
Izark and Noriko speak two different languages. So at the begining they don't understand each other. Noriko tries to learn the language bit by bit though, until they can understand each other.
However, Izark is not the prince charming you think he is, but actually.... he is something much more terrifing that you can imagine.
I have every book of this series, and I loved every minute I read it. Izark stands out as one of the most handsome manga men in the novel, while Noriko, who is indeed very cute, is somewhat on the plain side. However, the artist dolls her up in speical scenes, making her irrististibly beautiful. I totally recommend this wonderful read.
This book is rated Teen. No nude scenes or anything like that.
